Pre- liminary results indicate th at this method is capable of acc urate classication in a simple and efcient way. Second, we pr esent a classication method for ne-grained protocol identication by utilizing statistical packet and ow features. This pr ovides a rough traf- c decomposition in a privacy sensitive way. W e also analyze further ow character- istics such as connection establishment and termination beh a vior, which reveals differences among trafc from various classes of applications. However, we observe an increase of UDP trafc during the last few years, which we attribute to P2P signaling trafc. We then conrm the pr edominance of TCP as the tr ansport protocol in backbone trafc. W e used the method on our data, an d the results suggest that routing symmetry is uncommon on non- edge Internet link s.
